Importing from Fight Club 5
Bring in a character backup or compendium, see what becomes a character or Library source, and find the limits.
Sheetling reads supported Fight Club 5 compendiums and personal backups. Use a compendium when you want the shared content; use a backup when you also want the characters embedded in it.
What you can import
| Source file | What Sheetling finds | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| Compendium XML | Species, classes, backgrounds, feats, items, spells and creatures | Library |
| Personal backup | The embedded compendium plus one or more characters | Library and roster |
A backup contains copies of the content its characters use. The preview separates that compendium from the characters, so you can import either part.
Import a backup
- Export a personal backup from Fight Club 5.
- In Sheetling, select Import a file… and choose the backup.
- Review the character and compendium rows. Untick anything you do not want yet.
- Choose which rules years should offer the compendium, then select Import.
- Open the imported character and check any warnings shown on the sheet or in the import report.
What maps
- Character identity, levels, abilities, hit points, proficiencies, spells, equipment, money and the content references present in the backup are read when the source contains them.
- Structured compendium fields become Sheetling entries. Class counters become resources with the reset code carried by the file.
- Feature text remains readable on its card. A sentence alone does not create a counter, modifier or button.
Warnings and duplicates
- The preview names entries it skipped and fields it could not carry. Supported entries in the same file can still be imported.
- A source whose name matches an existing Library source is offered as a replacement or restoration when its identity matches. A separate source with colliding entry names does not override shipped content.
- Re-import the same real file after a mapper fix to update its Library source. Check an existing character's missing-content notice before deleting the older source.
Advanced homebrew
A <sheetling> element may carry the same mechanics block used by 5eTools JSON. It is optional. Use the format's own modifier and counter fields first; add a block only when the source has no structured way to say the mechanic. See The _sheetling block.
If a real backup fails, keep the original file and the report. The troubleshooting page lists the common causes; a reproducible file is the most useful thing to include in feedback.
